Dating Do’s and Don’ts for Men
A successful date is a result of an evening when you have been truly charming and have swept the lady off her feet! So here are certain “tips” that one should keep in mind when embarking upon that “big date” with a “special someone” in order to make it last…if you really want so that is!
- The very first thing to make sure is that you call a few hours before the date. It will not only tell her that you are excited about the date but also confirm the plan! Be gentle, may be a bit teasing too! Show her that she is going out with a chivalrous man by offering her to choose the venue and by offering to pick her up too!
- It should be reminded here that tacky is not “in”. Never show up in the attire you spent all day. The least you can do is to look fresh and presentable if not dashing. And yes, dress according to the venue.
- Do not forget the flowers! It’s a cliché but works like wonders. To get rid of the cliché, do not buy the ones she likes, but rather choose something you think compliments her best (make sure to compliment her too) to show her that you have put in some thought and have not just bought them for the heck of it.
- The routine of opening the doors and escorting her remain the same. But remember, escorting does not imply leading and you never walk ahead of your date.
- Talk smooth, be articulate, charming and a little mischievous, take interest by asking questions (may be a little personal ones too but know when to draw the line) and make sure that you make her laugh (but cut out the sleaze please)!
- Be a gentleman, but not uptight by making an extra effort to be one. She will know when you are faking it! A woman always gets attracted to men who are more carefree and relaxed than a one who has practiced to say the perfect things!
- And finally, never ever ask if she wants to go dutch with the bill! She might insist but let her insist harder and may be even more till you consider it.
- A follow up call the next day is always advisable, telling her that you had a wonderful time- an additional sign of chivalry.
However, the bottom line to the entire exercise remains to be your-self. It will not only shine through but also ease your senses throughout!
